ARK: Survival Evolved – The Evolution Revolution on Steam
ARK: Survival Evolved has taken over the gaming world – selling over a million copies in the first month after release and quickly building up to 2 million which is pretty unusual for an Early Access game.
The jury’s still out on the technical aspects of the game pending its official release but in the meantime, gamers are enjoying the sandbox survival game to the hilt.
The instant popularity and overwhelming amount of attention ARK are getting could be because of the D-factor. Anything with dinos is always a big hit – look how we’re all still hung up on Jurassic Park! Many users got Dino to help from the Ark Survival Evolved Cheat Engine code we posted on our forum.
Nonetheless, credit must be given where its due and the game’s developers are doing a superb job with constant updates and content that keeps evolving.
Development and Release
Ark: Survival Evolved has been under development since October 2014. Studio Wildcard from Seattle and Instinct Games from Egypt teamed up to bring about this incredible survival game that has stormed the world. One of the concerns was about the species of dinosaurs to be represented and recreated in game mode.

A lot of factual information was sought from books, articles, and scientists but the species to be found in the game differ from historical (and real) ancestors.
The creative team decided they needed some room to play to make dinos that could truly partner humans. The AI components of the game number in thousands and it’s powered by Unreal Engine 4.
The Early Access was released for Microsoft Windows in June this year through Steam.
Linux and OS X Early Access went online the next month, and the Xbox Game Preview Program is set for December 2015. No final date for the release version has yet been announced, but expectations are high for June 2016.
The game uses a first-person perspective, although third-person is available in some circumstances.
Players start off as characters (male or female) abandoned on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK with no clothes, food, or water.
You have to learn to hunt your food and co-exist with dinosaurs and other creatures that inhabit the land.
The exit is a nice touch as most survival games just have you building up and leveling up till you eventually give up! Keeping the goal of escape in place ensures the player’s interest for a long, long time.
1. Player vs. Player (PvP)
You will compete with other players on the map and damage their territory and ultimately kill them. Destroy their tribe buildings and hunt down the enemy’s Dinos to win. You can even team up with other tribes on the server. Our Ark Hack helps in this area as you can always see every player on the map.
2. Player vs. Environment (PvE)
In the Player vs. Environment mode (PvE), the only real threat is the environment itself. You cannot damage or destroy the other player’s buildings or kill their dinos.
3. Survival of the Fittest
If you are a fan of Hunger Gamers, you would love the survival of the fittest mode. You have to be the last man standing on the island by killing all other players.
Why is Steam all steamed up about ARK
ARK is trending exceptionally well for an Early Access game. The developers are putting much of the game’s success onto the aggressive strategy adopted for updates – new content seems to fall like rain and the community involvement in game development has added a whole new level of association for gamers and fans alike.
The updates will probably slow down as the release date approaches because the current bugs in the game need some doing over – there is a significant trade-off between graphics quality and maneuverability of characters.
Given how the game has taken off before release, it’s a safe bet that the developers will be looking to fix what’s already there then run off new content to cash-in on the momentum.
Survival Building Blocks – Ark Survival Tips
Dinosaurs are more than just impressive prehistoric beings. In ARK, they play a vital role in helping you dominate and survive.
The game includes 25 different kinds of dinos that you can tame for riding with over a hundred more planned for the release version.
They can be tamed by feeding it – yes, you have to scavenge food for the dino also. The efforts pay for itself when your dino becomes your friend and partner in life, and you start getting access to its amazing abilities.
These include flying, fast underwater swimming, attack skills, etc. Stat measurements for dinos include speed, health, and damage.
First on your list after enlisting in the game is to create a character that is an incredibly fun experience given the vast number of choices provided by ARK. Aside from the obvious male and female options, there is a vast array of forms and shapes to select.
Stats for the character include stamina, food, and hydration levels. Down to the basics! Consistent with reality, your health can be affected by overwork, lack of essential nutrients, and weather. For example, being without a shelter in the cold and rain will leave you “under the weather”. Similarly, hot weather will affect your hydration levels.
3. Home zone
Building a base requires you to gather resources and develop individual skills. Structure components like floors, doors, and windows are earned as you level up in the game. You can make any arrangement you like – imagination is the limit. Well, that and the resources available.
Start from thatch and build your way up to wooden and then stone structures. In the midst of an attack, your building’s pillars and foundations are the most likely targets because players can score points off destroying the structural integrity of a building. This can be a bit of a frustrating experience until you manage to level up enough to have a stable stone structure in place. With thatch and wood, you are likely to find your shelter/home base destroyed and all your resources stolen unless you plan to stay logged into the game 24×7 to defend your “home”.
It’s not all about picking fruits. Since a lot of the game depends on learning skills, you get to create culinary delights from whatever you gather. You can follow the recipes to increase your crafting skills and level up in the game. Leveling up means you get access to more advanced materials. Grow what you are going to eat is the number 1 rule and implemented in a very real sense.
Don’t be surprised to “feel” your character going through the baser notions of existence like farting and defecating! Excrements form good fertilizers; you get to collect “poop” from various sources and use it for a healthier crop.
Crafting is the name of the game. The power of your weapons lies in your ingenuity. Just like buildings, you need to collect the resources for building a weapon and have access to the technology needed for crafting them. The same goes for accessories that can be attached to weapons (scope or flashlights for guns). Crafting can also help keep your stats up in the game.
You can craft items that help you regenerate faster after sustaining damage from an attack. Of course, you can also just eat something that helps your health go up. Simple weapons like pick-axes are easy enough. Wood from trees, a few pieces of thatch, rocks from the beach, and the combination gives you a weapon strong enough to break down rocks to gather more materials like metal.
In PvP mode, you can’t survive on your own and have to take the next step in social development – joining a community. You can then participate in raids on other tribes for getting access to scarce resources and of course for the “glory of the tribe”.
ARK features a spectacular jungle landscape complete with underwater environments and hidden caves. The game’s map is an impressive 48 square km in size. About 36 of this island and the rest is an ocean. The dynamic weather system goes through everything from unbearable heat to icy cold winds and while there you might be facing tropical rainstorms as well. Arguably the best part is that you are a part of a living breathing ecosystem with defined predator and prey levels, and you are just part of the food chain.
But it must be said that the real danger comes not from the magnificent wildlife but people – your fellow players and tribes. Dinos size alone makes them cumbersome and attacking from the back from even a dull stone ax can get them down. The Ark Hacks help when it comes to finding things that can ultimately kill you.
5 Reasons Why You Should Play ARK: Survival Evolved
Although the impressive graphics and engaging gameplay are all that will get you hooked up on this game in minutes, let’s talk about some of the few reasons why the ARK: Survival Evolved is one of the best games out there.
The ARK Community
If you are a frequent online gamer, you would be aware of the fact that not every player on the game server is pleasant and kind. However, my experience on the Ark game servers was very different as in the majority of the servers the players were very friendly and also willing to help if you are a newbie.
The PVP mode is undoubtedly one of the coolest modes in the game. Raiding other player’s tribe and taking control of the land feels sturdy and will keep you engaged in the match.
The developing team is working hard to fix the bugs. You might find new updates daily on the steam forum that shows the developers want to make the game experience better. Even though the game still has some glitches, yet it does not feel incomplete.
Graphics is imperative for a good gaming experience. You’d be surprised to see the level of details used in the game that makes everything look so real. Each detail from the shadows to texture is phenomenal.
The introductory price of the Ark: Survival Evolved will most probably be around $60+. But right now, through Early Access, it is only $29.99, which is pretty amazing.
As mentioned before, the full version of the game is scheduled to arrive next year in June, and it will feature tons of new content including 40+ more creatures, new vehicles, weapons, armors, and Human/Dino Body-Paints. The developers have also promised that in addition to the game being bug-free, the graphics and effects would be improved too, making it, even more, realistic. I would suggest you to try out the ARK: Survival Evolved; it is one of the most entertaining games I’ve ever played.
