Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the first game in the Call of Duty series to put players in a futuristic setting and also, the first direct sequel produced for the series by Treyarch.
Taking place in the year 2025, during a time where China has risen to match the United States as a leading global power, conflict between these two nations erupts after a cyber-terrorist attack results with China’s economy collapsing.
Those familiar with the series will remember Alex Mason, the original Black Ops main character, and in this series, Black Ops 2 players take on the role of his son, David Mason. Players will engage with emerging technologies such as drones, robots, and confront more crippling cyber-attacks.
A unique aspect of gameplay, serving as the prologue to Black Ops 2, features a storyline that is affected by the players success and failure throughout the game and enables a variety of different scenarios during replay. Occurring during a throwback to the 1980s, players have to battle it out in Central America with the Nicaraguan terrorist, Raul Menendez. Within the same timeframe in the the game, players will see cameo appearances from Call of Duty: Black Ops characters such as Alex Mason and Frank Woods.

Since the fall of 2003, the Call of Duty series has dominated the FPS genre boasting well over 1.6 billion hours of online gameplay, this series has consistently retained it’s audience of shooter fans across the 9 different titles released in the series to date.
In November of 2012, Activision released Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – the highly anticipated first-person shooter, for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. Within 24 hours of its highly anticipated release, Black Ops 2 grossed over $500 million and received raving reviews from the gaming industry such as IGN who gave the game a rating of 9.3/10.

Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies
In addition to the flying drones and decision based gameplay – Zombie Mode has returned in Black Ops 2. Now supporting online multiplayer, gamers have the ability to play with up to 7 other players versus the limited 4 player co-op option in the past. Players will also benefit from the new system using Black Ops 2 hacks. Players that purchase the Black Ops 2: Special Edition will receive a new map named “Nuketown Zombies”. This undead version of Nuketown was first seen as just the “Nuketown” map in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Another new feature, a static campaign has been introduced that allows the zombie campaign and regular story mode to be utilized together.
Some changes that long time fans will notice are that “Kill Sreaks” are now named “Score Streaks” which focus less on the number of kills and with this change, the continuation of the streak is now determined by numerous factors. To invigorate new forms of gameplay and more interesting matches, players are given different weapons and equipment.
Although some changes have been made, the standard multiplayer mode is once again an option. This mode takes place in 2025, along with a large portion of the story mode.
A few other updates included are that players receive ten points to customize weapons, equipment, and abilities any way they choose when they upgrade their Create a Class feature. This will allow for even more strategy during combat and make matches more challenging with a wide choice of customization available.
CoD Black Ops 2 Multiplayer
Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag are examples of some multiplayer game options that have been brought back from past Call of Duty games. Multi-Team Team Deathmatch is a newly added mode to Black Ops 2. It is very much like Team Deathmatch, but three or four teams are allowed maxing out at 12 players on the map at a time. Hardpoint is another new feature added, which has opposing teams scurry to a point on the map and protect it.
This next release of the Call of Duty series will provide updated weapons, equipment, and vehicles, as well as the addition of the new features and interesting new modes. Technology in the game will be much more upgraded within the futuristic setting of Black Ops 2. An interesting upgrade allows the player to control top-notch vehicles never seen before in any other Call of Duty game! The Claw, which is an unmanned vehicle with mechanical legs, is a just another new feature that Black Ops 2 includes. Gamers can also use unmanned drones such as the Drone Mark 2 to be in charge of the sky. New equipment also gives your character additional firepower. A perfect example are explosives named “Quad Drones” that players fire from a personal wrist-mounted launchpad. Treyarch came to center stage with their release of Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, and from there developed some of many players favorite titles, such as Call of Duty 3, World at War, Modern Warfare: 3 and the first Black Ops. Treyarch is back with many updates to the series with their newest release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Updated graphics of Black Ops 2 compliment the new, fresh look of the game. Developed off of the Black Ops 2 Engine, which came about from the Infinity Ward 3.0 Engine (used in the original installment). HDR and bounce lighting, intersecting shadows, and self-shadowing are some improvements players will observe with the Engine. The Zombies upgraded version that was moved to the multiplayer part of the engine allowing for new zombie advancements, are a part of some other improvements that were made.
Black Ops 2 includes an updated user interface – giving it a more fresh and modernized look. In addition to an upgraded game engine and advanced visuals, weapon choices have become easier and quicker also, providing the player with a rotating carousel menu for more flexible access. Gun attachments are now presented side by side, making the easier to visualize and select as well.
The new picture quality, or even the variety of weapons and drones added are not the most interesting feature of Black Ops 2. The updated “Create a Class” mode, which rewards gamers ten slots to fill with whatever weapons or abilities they wish, take the win as the most interesting feature. To make room for a new ability, gamers can get rid of a secondary gun and now load up on grenades to start with immediately. B boosting certain character traits, the perks (abilities) will go into activation. For example, dexterity gives the player the ability to climb with more speed while providing recovery during melee, and toughness allows your character to be startled when shot. No two characters will ever be similar with the amount of combinations perks, weapons, and attachments you can create. This will offer much more gameplay and customization in a Call of Duty game that no ones ever experienced.
